Sunset Heights Fort Worth TX

Sunset Heights is a neighborhood located in south Fort Worth. Chisholm Trail Parkway runs along its southern edge, while the Clear Fork of the Trinity River is just south of that. Hulen Street passes through the neighborhood, and it crosses both of these major landmarks. The larger Sunset Heights subdivision stretches north to Interstate 30. Sunset Heights South ends around Wellesley Avenue. Como Park and Como Lake divide the neighborhood from Como.

This working-class neighborhood is somewhat safer than others in the area, including Como. Yet you’re in easy reach of Texas Christian University and downtown Fort Worth’s amenities. This area offers a number of 1500 to 2000 square foot three-bedroom single family homes, though there are a few apartment buildings in the area. The aptly named Sunset Heights Apartments complex is among them.

Go south of the Trinity River, and you hit upscale homes around the Colonial Country Club. This area is notable for being home to the Fort Worth Employee’s Retirement Fund. They have their offices on Hulen Street. Tarrant County court buildings are located in the same civil service complex.

Many students are assigned to the nearby Arlington Heights High School. Elementary school students may be assigned to South Hi Mount Elementary School or Como Elementary. Grades 6-8 attend Stripling Middle School. The middle school is located on the north side of I-30. The Lena Pope Early Education Center is located on Sanguinet Street. The Lena Pope Home itself hosts a number of child-centered programs. For example, they run the Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program intended to keep kids out of trouble once they’ve interacted with the juvenile justice system.

The Amon Carter Center at Lena Pope is a unique public-private space. It can be divided into several conference rooms or be opened up to host larger events. It holds classes, luncheons, workshops and even weddings. It is caddy corner to the Marty Leonard Community Chapel, with the JJAEP building between them.
