The City of Dallas required vehicles to have a second window decal, along with the City of Dallas or City of Fort Worth decals that were already required to operate at the airport. Drivers were asked to pay $20 to have the additional sticker placed on their private vehicles.
Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport has also recently lifted restrictions following pressure from ride-sharing companies.
Regulation of new ride-sharing services remains inconsistent and often unfair. Local governments are seeking to make new rules while dealing with a chorus of protests from traditional taxi services and unions as they are undercut by the new operators.
In some places, lawsuits have even been filed against the ride-sharing companies to try to stop them doing business. Although companies like Lyft and Uber have won victories they still face resistance at many airports from the old guard.
