As the former smuggler Han Solo in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ died, Chewbacca was alone, so he joined the Texas police department.
Chewie made a special appearance in a video in which he can be seen out on patrol with a cop. The video shows Chewbacca performing multiple tasks of a cop.
The video also gives the following message before it finishes: “Attention rookies, welcome to the Fort Worth police department! Remember to always show courtesy and respect to our citizens and always provide professional service and may the force be with you!”
The department is getting assistance from the character for their new recruits. The video was recorded for the newly hired cops, so they can learn the ropes. Chewie performed training exercises and traffic stops to show the recruits.
When Han died, the viewers become sad and the situation became difficult for Chewie as well; so the Wookiee decided to be a cop to try and fill the void. It is shown in the recording that Wookiees can rip a man’s arm from its socket, so it gave the message to the newly hired cops that they have to do everything Chewbacca did in the video to show what the department is looking for in the new individuals hired.
It is a great way to utilize the characters of Star Wars other than by Disney movies. The video also contains a little bit of humor as the character is too tall to fit in the squad car. There was also a sad moment in the video where Chewie said, “Hey, I’m sorry about Han.”
Prior to this, a similar video was released in which a Stormtrooper practicing on the firing range can be seen. It is not the first time that Disney characters have been used for demonstration by the department.
