University West All You Need To Know

University West is another Fort Worth neighborhood defined by its proximity to Texas Christian University. The neighborhood’s southern boundary literally runs along the edge of TCU, zig-zagging north along with the edge of TCU parking lot 4 and the Frog Alley Parking Garage. On the other hand, residents can walk to the Ed Landreth Auditorium and Dee Kelly Alumni and Visitors Center. The influence of TCU is so great that there is both a University Baptist Church and University Christian Church in University West.

University West is more family-friendly than University Place. For example, residents can walk to Alice Carson Elementary School located on the southern edge of the neighborhood.

Park Hill cuts through the northern third of the neighborhood. Colonial Parkway loops around the outside of University West, separating the neighborhood from the Colonial Country Club. That doesn’t matter much when you’re in biking distance from Among G Carter Stadium and the John S. Justin Athletic Center. You will have to take a bus or drive to the Bellaire Recreational Field owned by TCU. There is also a modest park at the intersection of Stadium Drive and McPherson Avenue. That is just north of Carlson elementary school. Starpoint School is south of Cantey on the TCU campus.

Stadium Drive passes through University West north to south. University Drive is the eastern edge of the subdivision. There are multiple bus stops along University Drive, giving the area better than average public transit coverage. Its public transit score is 22 but goes up dramatically as you move closer to University Drive. The average walk score for the area is 22. The bike score is 55. The closer you are to the college, the walkable and bikeable it is.

Homes in this area range from affordable 1950s bungalows to multi-million dollar luxury homes. In general, the closer you are to the country club, the more expensive they are.
