Fort Worth is the seat of Tarrant County and the fifth-largest city in  Texas. It has a 2022 population of 958,692 and is expected to reach over 1.2 million by 2030. In the late nineteenth century, Fort Worth began to become a center of cattle trading. In the early twentieth century, the area became a major oil town. With the help of the Texas and Pacific Railways, the city started to grow. The city was incorporated by the state legislature in 1873.

The city became the epicenter of the West Texas oil gushers, which produced many millionaires. The oil boom brought an abundance of jobs to the city. So a large number of immigrant workers and settlers also contributed to the growth of Fort Worth.

The city’s first radio station was established in 1922. The station was known as WBAP. It was the first station in the Southwest to broadcast baseball games and the town’s first professional baseball game was played in 1887. It also broadcasts weekly church services. The station was founded by Amon G. Carter, who moved to Fort Worth in 1905. He later founded the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The city of Fort Worth is home to some of the best public schools in the country. The Fort Worth Independent School District teaches more than 84,000 students in Tarrant County. The Fort Worth area is also home to 60 colleges and universities.

The city of Fort Worth hosts a wide variety of festivals and events each year. Some of the most popular events include the Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival, the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering, and the Lone Star Film Festival. 

Several music festivals draw big crowds. The Bass Performance Hall is the home of the Fort Worth Opera, Texas Ballet Theatre, and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. The city is also home to the largest honky-tonk in the world, Billy Bob’s Texas. 

There are also many parks and museums in Forth Worth. The Amon Carter Museum of American Art features rotating exhibits and a permanent collection. It is also home to the Texas Cowboy Museum, which features artifacts and photographs of the pioneers of the American West. Further, it is also the home of the Fort Worth Aviation Museum, which has airplanes from several different periods. They are all located in the Cultural District.
